Sure, the Oscars generate a big fuss, but we’ll get to them later.
The second biggest set of movie nominations just came out, and the internet’s buzzing with speculation. Transformers 2 seems to be leading, and word is Michael Bay is long overdue to win this time. Fans are saying Twilight was snubbed, although a few actors got nominations. A few people like Lindsey Lohan might receive a lifetime achievement award, while Whiteout was completely shut out.
Of course these aren’t quality awards for quality films and filmmakers. It’s the Razzie Awards!
Here’s a complete list of nominees.There aren’t too many big surprises here, although sometimes it seems like The Razzies go for the cheap joke (like nominating The Jonas Brothers for “Worst Screen Couple” for their live concert) rather than bestowing their truly dubious honors to those more deserving. As a bonus this year for their 30th anniversary, they’re giving out awards for “Worst Movie of the Decade,” and there are definitely a few deserving nominees (Battlefield Earth, anyone?).
I would definitely vote for Battlefield Earth as worst movie of the decade. Terrible movie, but terribly funny if RiffTrax’d.
