TWG: A Faith & Geekery Crossover
In geek terms, a crossover is when a character from one creative property makes an appearance within the context of another creative property. This happens frequently in comic books, but also occasionally in literature, video games, television, and cinema.
Today it’s happening online.
Our esteemed Faith & Geekery collaborator Goose Nissley also runs his own most excellent website at GooseRadio.com, where he strives to deliver news and commentary on politics, sports, faith, and a variety of other cultural topics through both the written word and regular delivery of a well-produced podcast called “This Week With Goose,” or “TWG” for short.
Goose recently approached me about adding a feature to his TWG podcast called the “Geek Beat.” Far less violent in actuality than it sounds, the Geek Beat exists (currently on a monthly basis) to cover the most relevant, important geekish stories in the news — whether it’s the opening of the latest summer blockbuster or the impact of new technology in the milieu of geopolitical events.
Last week, he and I recorded this inaugural edition of the Geek Beat, discussing the impending return of Captain America, the role of Twitter in the Iranian election protests, and why there are so many sequels at the box office this summer!
