Star Wars Done MacGyver-Style

This one’s for all you children of the ’80′s.

Growing up, I loved watching Star Wars.  I also really enjoyed MacGyver.  At the risk of sounding like a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup commercial, “why not put them together?”

This pair of videos is very much like the WALL·E /Watchmen trailer mashup I posted a few weeks back, only this time it’s the opening theme to MacGyver joined with clips from Star Wars…and done extremely well.  As in the previous post, the new footage here parallels quite well with the original for a very effective parody/tribute combo.  Enjoy!

Here’s the original MacGyver intro…

…and the mashup.

After watching both of those a couple of times, I’m thinking someone could do a pretty good job with a MacGyver/Indiana Jones mashup, too.  Any takers?

That’s awesome!
Thinking about it, I’m almost surprised Lucas didn’t milk out more moola by making Star Wars a weekly adventure show in the 80′s.  He did it with Indiana Jones with those Young Indy Chronicles.  I mean, there was that Ewoks movie, but that doesn’t really count because there were no Jedis.

Nicely done! And actually I think Lucas just waited a while to milk it, because now Cartoon Network has a “Clone Wars” series that is produced or directed or something  by Lucas. On another note, I also enjoy Richard Dean Anderson in Stargate SG-1. I actually hadn’t made the MacGyver/Stargate connection until just now.

Also worth checking out is the Star Wars / Airwolf mash-up. There’s both an Imperial and Rebel version. Fun stuff.
