Star Trek Meets the A-Team

Yes, it’s true. Someone else is having fun at the expense of classic television shows.
I think we owe them our thanks for a few minutes of yuks!
Utilizing clips from classic Star Trek episodes and the opening theme from The A-Team, we end up with a video that — surprisingly — makes these two shows seem [...]

Facing Facebook – Part 3 of 3 (Circle Up!)

This is the last of a 3 part series on using Facebook in a ministry model. Yesterday I shared an example of using Facebook to simply reach people where they are hanging out.
In retrospect, I realized that I am probably leaving the least intriguing observation to last.  But I still think it’s coo!
It is one [...]

Online Newspapers: Not Farfetched (1981)

What a difference several decades of technology and perspective can make.
Here’s a television news report from 1981 talking about how some people have taken to reading the day’s newspaper on the home computer!!!
Don’t skip out on the video too early.  It’s good until the very end.  Pay particular attention to the identifying text caption for [...]

Neil Gaiman in the News

It has been quite a week for author Neil Gaiman!

It all started Monday morning, when he was informed that his recent work The Graveyard Book had won the Newbery Medal for 2009…

Taking GMail Offline

One of the biggest detriments to “Cloud Computing” are those (fewer, but still frequent) moments when you can’t be connected.
In a blog post yesterday, Google Labs introduced offline Gmail using Gears

Facing Facebook – Part 2 of 3 (Outreach?)

This week I have been undertaking a 3 part series on ministry trends I have observed on Facebook. Yesterday I looked at the demographics of Facebook. Today I want to talk about the power of Facebook as an extension of daily church ministry.

Shuttle Shot

I stumbled across a cool photo of the Space Shuttle Cockpit.

I grew up with a strong affinity for the Space Shuttle program.

My bedroom had Space Shuttle Wallpaper, and I would make every effort to see any launches or landings that were covered on television. Until I realized that I would be around 6 1/2 feet tall, I had a young man’s aspirations to be a part of that program when I grew up.

81st Annual Academy Award Nominations

Though I’m already late, I would be remiss if I missed out entirely on making some comments about this year’s Oscar nominations.

These aforementioned comments would likely be along the lines of, “Whoa, I might actually watch the Oscars this year!”

Facing Facebook – Part 1 of 3 (Who’s Listening?)

This one definitely needs to be filed under “Faith”. Talking about Facebook has become so mainstream, it hardly qualifies as “Geek” any more.
For the last few months, I have been intrigued as I watch Christian ministries tentatively step into the world of Facebook.

Fox News, Billy Graham & Scrabble

Greetings and salutations! I am Goose, and unlike every other author on this blessed page, I am unmarried. I am also younger than all those other guys. Therefore, I will be like the little brat of F & Geekery. Pleased to make your acquaintance.
