Michael Crichton: We’ll Miss You

CrichtonOne of my favorite authors is no longer with us.

Michael Crichton, writer of such intelligent and proudly geeky fare as Jurassic Park, Sphere, Congo, The Andromeda Strain, and many others has died unexpectedly at the age of 66.  His family has revealed that he had been privately fighting cancer.  His books have sold over 150 million copies, and many have become hit movies.  In addition, Crichton was the creator of the TV series “ER.”

I have many of his books on my bookshelf, and though some of his more recent works were some of my least favorite, the thought of never having a new Michael Crichton novel to enjoy is saddening to me.  His family is in my prayers, and I know that millions more people will enjoy his works for years to come.

I was so shocked when I learned about this! And saddened by the timing too, as his death has been overshadowed by the election. He was one of my top favorite authors and I was hoping that he would be publishing another book soon. This is really really sad. :(
