…at the Minnesota FallCon.
The Minnesota Comic Book Association’s annual fall convention was this last week at the State Fair grandstand. I decided to go. Not only had I not been there in a few years, but I have a friend who had a table there, and I wanted to check that out. (His name is Kevin Wind, and he writes and draws a comic called The Local Haunt. Mostly strip-based and posted online here, it’s a funny comic about a guy who moves into a house that he doesn’t realize is haunted and the gremlin who gives him a hard time. Check it out!)
Anyway, short of a few freebies, I didn’t walk away with much from the convention and only spent a few hours there. I did, however, grab some hilarious snapshots with my cell phone (sorry for the quality). This kind of thing is half the reason one goes to such events! On one hand, you have to respect the level of work and detail that goes into some of this stuff. On the other hand…well, nevermind. Just enjoy, and chuckle along with me…

Okay, this is kinda cool…the Batmobile from the 1960′s TV show? Atomic batteries to power…turbines to speed…ready to roll out…

Vader’s rolling deep with his homies, apparently. Costumes are actually pretty good!

Just what I always wanted!

Looks like Spidey just rolled into a Batman/Two-Face picture at the last minute. Bats seems a bit perturbed about it…as usual. (Also, Harvey’s appetite seems not to have been affected by the whole “losing half my face” thing.)

I just have to laugh at the lonely Stargate, derelict and forgotten, stuffed in some remote corner of the convention hall. Not sure if there were originally some grand plans for it that got scrapped last minute or what, but it looks both undersized and out of place.
Alas, many other humorously costumed individuals and “huh?”-inducing sights remain undocumented here. There are only so many times one is apparently allowed to surreptitiously use a camera phone and still successfully capture a usable image. Still, from the perspective of an avid people watcher, FallCon is an incredibly interesting place. Be happy, though, that these few images — accurate though they may be at presenting the sights of FallCon — have no way of conveying some of the smells of FallCon.
I’ll let your imagination take that one by itself.

Batman’s like “I am NOT posing! Nope. Not until ‘Spider-Boy’ here leaves.”
