Speed painting videos are fairly popular on YouTube.
For those unfamiliar with the term, speed painting is usually done on a digital medium on a time crunch. It is not, however, a time-lapse video. Thus watching these things on YouTube is a fairly impressive thing. The accuracy of some of what gets done in ten minutes or fewer is amazing.
However, while regular speed painting is cool, it’s got nothing on a rendition of the Mona Lisa done in 80 milliseconds.
Only the Mythbusters, of course. Here, in an impressive visual metaphor explaining parallel processing, they use paintball guns to create an image.
And okay, since it’s time-lapse, it’s not technically speed painting, but some of the work by Nico di Mattia is especially impressive.
Excellent post! I truly enjoyed the Mythbusters demo, and I thought that the Batman speed painting video was totally fascinating. However, it served to remind me that I will NEVER be an artist.
I think I’m going to use a paintball gun to paint my room.
Let me know how that goes for you!
