In the realm of comic book movies, The Dark Knight now reigns supreme.
ComingSoon reports that The Dark Knight‘s current domestic box office gross is $492.689 million. The previous reigning champ was Spider-man, which hit $403.7 million, or $491.952 million if you adjust it for inflation. Either way, The Dark Knight is now on top, making it only the thirtieth film to ever break the $400 million mark.
Worldwide, it’s expected to break $900 million this weekend.
Clearly with those kinds of numbers, some people must be seeing it more than once. I’ll admit to having seen it twice (but at matinee pricing). If you’ve seen it, have you gone again?
I haven’t gone again, although I really wanted to! Just not enough money to see a movie twice.
(I remember when regular movies cost the current matinee price! Dang, does that mean I’m old?)
Anyway… I think Batman squashes Spiderman any day, anywhere.
I must be missing something, but isn’t 491.952 more than 482.689, making Spider-man, at least for now, still on top of Dark Knight? Surely, it will be overtaken, but I’m just checking on the current situation.
Whoops! I mis-typed one of the numbers. Shame, shame.
Dark Knight has raked in $492.689 million. Post edited and fixed.
I have only seen it once and thought it was really good. I will watch it again, but probably not at the theater.
I’ve been trying to find someone to go back with who hasn’t seen it before. Oddly enough, said person may turn out to be my mother-in-law. Hmmph.
