Time to geek out for a moment.
Let’s be honest…X-Men 3 (I mean, X-Men: The Last Stand) wasn’t very good. Sure, it was big and fun, but in terms of what Brett Ratner decided to do to the characters and plotlines…well, he sure didn’t do Bryan Singer’s legacy any favors.
Hope springs eternal, however, and the coming of X-Men Origins: Wolverine is here. Once again, USA Today seems to have their finger on the comics pulse, debuting this picture of Hugh Jackman back in his Wolverine duds (and by “duds,” I mean “claws).

The article reiterates some of the info that has already been out there, but drops a few fun hints at the same time:
The film will trace Wolverine’s past as he discovers the world of mutants and, ultimately, the ominous Weapon X program, which turns people into living weapons.
Jackman is tight-lipped on plot details, though he says the film will hardly be a one-mutant story.
Wolverine’s nemesis Sabretooth “is going to play a big part in it. And there will be a good bit of cameos” of new and familiar mutants, he says. “But you can’t give too much away, because fans are pretty hard-core. Their expectations go up a level every time you come out with a new film.”
Too true, Mr. Jackman, too true.
Speaking of expectations…trailer for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, anyone?
I just have to say, while many jokes have been made about how Indy looks his age, judging from this teaser, he sure isn’t acting it!

All I have to say about the new Indy movie is they better not pull a George Lucas and forget what made the original so popular. The preview doesn’t really grab me since half of it is reviewing the previous movies, but hey I’ll still see it anyway.
As far as X-Men goes the mess that was X3 does not convince me that there is need for another further forays in the X Men universe.
I agree about Lucas…so far, from what I’ve seen of the trailer, I still have hopes about Indy.
As far as X-men…sure, I understand that. However, knowing how rich the universe is on the comics side of things, I’m not prepared to let one bad movie spoil the franchise. As bad as X3 was, Jackman carries his character well, and if they can get a good script that (like the first two movies) recognizes that X-men is about WAY more than special effects and superpowered people beating each other up, I’m all for it!
I’m a fan of Wolverine in the comics, so I’m pretty pumped about Jackman getting into Logan’s nigh-indestructible skeleton again. I also wouldn’t mind seeing a more mean, berserker Wolverine in this movie, too. The X-Men movies kind of had a nice, kiddie Wolverine feel, which isn’t bad for that avenue, but doesn’t explore as deep into Wolverine’s struggle between beast and man.
Speaking of trailers for coming sweetness, have you seen this?

After watching that, I’m beside myself in geek-outness.
I don’t think they’ll pull a George Lucas, considering that Steven Spielberg is the main director of the film. I also was watching some clips from the movie website and in one of them Spielberg said he’s been making movies for himself now for a while, and that this one is a return to making one for the fans. Should be good.
