You have Eragon's storyline that takes almost a backseat to Roran's action-packed quest (who I never thought would be a main character). And I'm sure I've said this before, but the last few chapters of Eldest set Paolini on a level very close to Tolkien and/or Rowling. Yeah; he’s done a much better job with the pacing in this one.
