Today’s example comes once again from at least one radio listener out there, but perhaps more. Unlike yesterday’s example, this is one that I never would have dreamed of, but hey, I’m glad we’re all different. This is from a terrific Jeremy Camp song called “Take You Back.” I’ll offer you the offending clip first (just to see if anyone else hears something odd from the get-go) before telling you what somebody heard:

Seems pretty innocuous, right? I’ll take you back always/ Even when the pain is coming through… Well, one dear listener was upset that we kept playing “that song about the baby coming through.” She didn’t feel it was appropriate to be airing music that was so descriptive of the, uh, natal process. I guess a little thing like “context” sometimes doesn’t matter!
In other cases, sadly, it might matter all too much. I have my friend “Y” to thank for this one. A former radio guy who spent some time spinning discs in Duluth, he sent me an email yesterday hot on the heels of the debut post in this series:
I have one for your blog…
When I was in Duluth, we had a person that thought Rebecca St. James’ song ["Wait For Me"] was a bit off… The chorus goes “I’m waiting for, waiting for you, darling…” Since the song is about sexual purity and RSJ is always tooting that horn, he thought it was odd to have a song by her that said “I’m waiting for, waiting for your body…”
I don’t hear it, but I guess somebody did! As always, you be the judge:

That’ll do it for today. More tomorrow! And keep sending ideas if you’ve got ‘em.
The one at work that always gets me is the Rita Springer/Jeff Deyo song “Bless the Lord”
“For your justice, for your mercy….and your silicone will reign over all!”
I’m sure that’s not it – but it’s close, right?
